It had to come in the end, didn't it? After Korn fused dubstep with nu metal to close out 2011 we just knew that a glam/hardcore fusion was only just a guyliner pencil's width away from a screamo vocal. Step forward Canadian metal futurists Blessed By A Broken Heart, as Ross Welford looks to get his 2012 off with a bang reviewing the band's third album 'Feel The Power'.

Dr Living Dead! are a mysterious Swedish mob hiding behind, not only masks and crazed stage names, but also one of the best album covers to grace these hallowed pages for a while. Mark Ashby investigates and finds a worthwhile exercise in noise, the influence of the likes of Suicidal Tendencies, DRI and SOD haunting proceedings.....

It's too early in the year to be fighting at URHQ, but South African alternative/pop band Dear Reader have sparked more heated discussions than a Reckless Love album with this, their creature themed album 'Idealistic Animals'. Whilst it might not be your typical Uber Rock type of thing it most certainly is "different" and for that reason alone we allowed Russ P to drink from the normally poisoned chalice of "concept album". But what did he find?

Only one man at URHQ could get quite so excited about the recent series of reissues from '80s AOR also rans Tokyo and, of course, that man is Dave Prince. We are talking music that will have you rolling up your satin jacket sleeves, kicking off your espadrilles and fanning out that wild at the weekend hairstyle like it's 1984. It's all aboard as The Prince takes us on a magical melodic rock mystery tour to a time and place some may never have escaped from.

Back in the early '90s NYC rockers Beggars & Thieves were perhaps best known for simply featuring ex Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan within their ranks, which was a shame as their 'self titled' debut was apparently a classic in the melodic rock mould, and something that passed most of us by at the time. Not so Dave Prince though - nah he's a long time fan and now he's championing their return via 'We Are The Brokenhearted' as something approaching an AOR second coming. Read on to find out why.

In the first week of the new year is it too early to lay claim to a potential winner of the 2012 album of the year? Not a chance if that album is the highly-anticipated second full release from Hate Gallery. 'Viva La Resistance' wraps a chilling vision of the state of the modern world around essential rock 'n' roll and, as Gaz E found out, will struggle to be beaten by any record over the next twelve months....

Back in June 2010 Angeline's debut platter 'Confessions' had our resident AOR sceptic Gaz E proclaiming it to be an Uber Rock approved slice of rifftastic rock. Fast-forward to the fading months of 2011 and the band's sophomore release 'Disconnected' is about to send Dave Prince off into a heaven of AOR superlatives. But as the saying goes "good things come to those who wait"...

UK glam titans Wrathchild return with 'STAKKATTAKKTWO', an album whose title looks like Zoot made it up. Klikk that link to see if you could possibly agree.....

Excuse me? Did I just see the words "easy" and "listening" being used to describe an album here on Uber Rock? Well given the fact that we are always banging on about challenging our readers we can forgive Russ P for that analogy, just, as we journey into the fragile world of Laura Gibson.

Album number two for Dutch occult rockers The Devil's Blood crept out from a rather dark and eerie place at the tail end of 2011, a place called 'The Thousandfold Epicentre'. We asked our man with the cloven-hoofed basketball boots Mr Jim Rowland to step inside this album full of psychedelic surprises and just look what he came out with.
