Lydia Lunch artworkapproved image lrgFor the first time on LP, this live recording features a band that includes Jim Sclavunos (from Sonic Youth, The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, etc) and Harry Howard (from These Immortal Souls).

This is both bleak and beautiful and, as the performance progresses, the band really get into their stride. By the time 'What Is Memory' takes up residence in your head, the power and beauty of this distorted “bootlegging the bootleggers” recording is spreading its wings, so to speak, as it soars with distortion and beauty.

With ten songs on offer, it flip-flops from the bleak ('Cisco Sunset') to the punchy ('Still Burning') as Rowland summons up the spirit of Jim Morrison.

Side two offers up some serious workouts in terms of song length, with 'Incubator' preceding some 'Burning Skulls' as the record builds towards its epic finale and a 12-plus minute workout of 'Black Juju'.

Another day, another inspired release from Bang! If you love some wild howling rock n roll from the likes of anyone I've mentioned in this brief review, then this is something you will surely be interested in checking out.
