HooliganDublin three piece Hooligan lace up their Doc Martins and kick the shit out of this five track EP.

With a decent job on the production Hooligan enter a pretty competitive market with this here 'Prodigal Son' EP. They waste no time getting down to business with the title track opening up proceedings. It's a fairly tame opener to be fair, mid paced but it does have a decent hook on the chorus; if it were more uptempo it would have greater impact with this beefy sound. 'Back On The Piss Again' pays homage to the fine art of drinking with its Clash-like middle eight then it's on to track three, a remix of the title track - not quite sure why, to be honest. Seeing as it's only a five track EP to have one song twice with very little difference in the mix seems a bit pointless in my humble opinion, but hey ho!
Bringing this brief EP to a close are two live tracks, 'Rebel Heart' and 'Nowhere Man', the prior track having another stab at the Clash style breakdown with Strummer style howl; did nothing for me at all but, in fairness, the final track is probably the pick of the bunch with some decent terrace chant backing vocals and a good tempo but not a great deal to write home about.
