Now a band featuring past members the likes of Marq Torien (Bulletboys) and Kevin Steele (Roxx Gang) kind of gives you an idea as to what that band are gonna sound like... but that doesn't even come close. If you want glam... go away. This band ROCK! And that's in an AC/DC, Rhino Bucket kind of way!
This band have a history that almost reads parallel to London in that they have included members who have gone on to bigger and better things. 'Monroe' was originally released in 1996, this reissue comes complete with 3 bonus songs that sold thousands on Sunset Strip. Vocalist Billy Coane stepped up to the plate to help the band before original singer Chris Van Dahl came back after a stint singing with LA Guns for their 'American Hardcore' album and tour. 'X Rated' featured future Tyketto bass player Jamie Scott and Wes Kimball on vocals and came complete with most of the same dirty R'N'R as before.
My problem with Cherry St. was that they never settled on a line-up long enough to receive the respect that they deserved. The tunes here are great, but it feels almost like a solo album in that the vocals constantly change giving an uneven feel to the recordings.
Given the opportunity to review this CD has given me the chance to relive my past as I remember ordering their 'Squeeze It Dry' disc back in 1993 which was given a boost because it was produced by Pat Regan (KISS, Deep Purple), Erik Turner (Warrant) and Tommy Thayer (Black N Blue, KISS) and was toured at that time with Dangerous Toys, Foreigner, Warrant, April Wine, Vince Neil, Slaughter, Pretty Boy Floyd and Sweet F.A.
This CD is like one of them time capsules - great to visit every once in a while!
