Never heard of Kevlar Bikini? That is about to change. They might come from Croatia with a penchant for songtitles like 'Kiss It Like It's Skinny Liv Tyler' but this ferocious four piece gifted us here at URHQ the chance to hear their new album, 'Explodisiac', and it damn near blew us away. Ben Hughes was the Uber Rocker lucky enough to be given the chance to wax lyrical on another great album from a previously unknown band....just how we like it.....

Straight outta Red Lion, Pennsylvania (and sadly not the Red Lion, Blaina), adding the words "female fronted" to Halestorm's band biog immediately has one uber scribe bouncing all over the band's second album like zebedee after he's had a new spring fitted. Dave Prince spills the beans on what he expects from Lzzy Hale and the boys as he unravels 'The Strange Case Of'...

With some of us already well into our fifth decade of life here on planet Uber Rock, we thought that rather than once again rolling out the typical "back in the day" spiel that normally accompanies these types of releases we'd give this epic version of 'Electric Warrior' over to someone who has only just discovered the delights of Marc Bolan and T. Rex. Step forward Lewis Brooks to explain why this seminal release really does posses truly timeless qualities.

'Rise Up Ye Sunken Ships' is the debut album from New York's We Are Augustines and the subject matter smeared right through its running time is dark to say the least; losing a brother to suicide following a lengthy battle with drug addiction, after having his mother take her own life, has provided the band's Billy McCarthy with plenty to write about. Jamie Richards checks the album out.....

Already confirmed for this year's Hard Rock Hell VI festival, and managed by a Quireboy, The Burning Crows appear to have a bright future ahead of them. Ross Welford checked out the band's 'Never Had It So Good' EP to see if that title was more appropriate now than ever......

Bert McCracken and The Used return with album number five and, with the producer of their first three albums returning to knob-twiddling duties, could it be that they are looking to forget all about 2009's moody piece 'Artwork'? Gaz E got up at four o' clock in the fucking morning to find out if this new platter was one that would matter.....

What's this? A new solo record from Brian James, famed member of both The Damned and Lords Of The New Church? Are we interested? You can bet your sweet bippy we are, boys and girls. Dom Daley entered 'Château Brian' and found an album that was stripped back yet essential listening. Read on to find out why........

Made up of ex members of the legendary UK rock outfit UFO (oh, and MSG), X-UFO could be accused of riding on the coattails of their former paymasters especially with this debut release of live tunes, however having already witnessed the band live (and enjoyed what he saw) Jim Rowland argues the case in their defence as we open up our very own version of the X Files here at Uber Rock HQ.

K-Lacura are a UK metal crew heavily influenced by the likes of Parkway Drive and Killswitch Engage....but then so are a lot of other young UK bands. Gaz E checks out their debut long player, 'Portraits Of The Faceless', to see if this band would stand out or just blend in......

Actions! are a young pop punk outift operating from the South Coast of the UK who hope that they have what it takes to stand out from an already saturated market. With a producer who has worked with the likes of The Blackout and Youmeatsix twiddling the knobs of this debut release they might have half a chance. Rob Watkins checks it out.....

Warning; the following Uber Rock review may well be a little too piratey for you. Ross Welford replaces the chip on his shoulder with a parrot and slaps the Chainsaw Caine eyepatch that he half-inched from the Hard Rock Café wall onto his glowing visage as he checks out the new album from German seamen Running Wild.....

Is the world really ready for a greatest hits album from the world's greatest (and probably only) flamenco sleaze glam rock band, the UK's very own Gypsy Pistoleros? We asked Fraser Munro to strap down his sombrero, pull up his bandido platform boots and board the office burro in his quest to find the answer and this, mis amigos, is what he found.

We love our four letter words here at Uber Rock - Ratt, Odin, Wham - but there is one that strikes fear into the baboon heart of each and every one of us handsome bastards: prog. Rob Watkins took one for the team and checked out the new release from Abandoned Stars, a disc awash with Rush and Dream Theater comparisons......

Everyone at Uber Rock loves riffs - we touch ourselves the meatier the fuckers get. But what if an album was so riff-heavy that the band forgot to put any vocals over the top of them? Yes, You Slut! have released an example of the dreaded instrumental album, but not like one that you have heard before. Ben Hughes was the riff-meister who we worked this instru-mental release onto.....

Courted by Gerard Way, given support slots with My Chemical Romance, Paramore and 30 Seconds To Mars, shipped out to Los Angeles to record their new album for their new record label - things couldn't have looked better for UK trio LostAlone. Then they found themselves released from their deal and left to find a new home for their second long player. Thankfully the album didn't disappear because, as Gaz E discovered, 'I'm A UFO In This City' is one of the year's finest albums. Read on to find out why.....

With something new and something borrowed already very much a part of our UFO features here on Uber Rock today, we asked Johnny H to take a look at something old (no, not his reflection) from the band and he chose to revisit his favourite era via this recently released 5 CD retrospective that covers the Paul Chapman and Atomik Tommy M years of the band. Up there in space (for that read his mansion in the Welsh mountains) Nev Brooks is looking down on you (yeah you, Terminal Gods), his lasers (okay it's his computer) trace everything you do, yup that's right your new 7" single 'Electric Eyes', and hence our cod Judas Priest lyric lifting intro. But Nev definitely doesn't find any British Steel hidden within this baby's grooves, just good old fashioned British Goth. Read on to find out more.....
