This is more than ably demonstrated on opener 'Barren', a punishing soundscape of unleashed ultra violence, very much in the Machine Head mode, fierce in its beat down and vicious in its delivery... and not least that of frontman Adrian Noone, who definitely proves himself a force to be reckoned with his performance across the length and breadth of this four track EP. 'Deus Ex-Machina' moves the band more into mathcore territory, combining rapid time changes with a backdrop of blastbeats and an almost punky chorus, but the standout track here is 'The March That Makes A Man', which towers head and shoulders above anything any other British band operating in this particular genre have produced, certainly in the recent past. Closer 'Front Towards Enemy' is epic in its approach and scope and, even with its almost acoustic third quarter interlude, just as brutal as anything that's gone before, and serves to give the EP a well-rounded feel.
If you like your metalcore fast and hard-hitting, then this is most definitely one for you to get your ears wrapped around... otherwise you never know what the night might bring.
