'The Face' is a bright and breezy opener and as cool as any Long Island ice tea. 'Get My Shotgun' is up next and Randy has taken his sound into a trippy '70s stomp with a very nice breakdown before we all start swinging our pants on the verse. 'Tremblin Blues' is exactly what it says on the label, some organ swirling Joplin and the Big Brother Holding Company lickin' blooze baby as Michael lowers the tone of his voice to a gutteral low end as he exorcises those voodoo demons. Next up is the quality titled 'When I Die (Can I Come Back As Your Dress)' with its hand jive shuffle and playful lyrics breaking out into some Gospel; it's a crazy track but damn it's a whole lot of fun.
'Poor Suzanna' has the Stonesy "woo-hoos" going on and is more proof that Randy Michael has got his mojo working and his groove on and this tooty frooty collection of flavours is a great listen and anyone who digs the likes of Vintage Trouble or people like the Primals or the '60s and '70s originals then you'll appreciate this EP no question about it.
A little bit of what you fancy and a little bit of everything makes for a very pleasant EP. There is a lot going on at times but the bottom line is it's only rock 'n' roll boys and girls and as Sir Mick said "I know it's only rock 'n' roll...but I like it," and I do. Go visit Randy on his facebook page and share the love or better still pop over to iTunes and buy his music.
