fatesuponusSheffield quintet Fates Upon Us drop their debut self titled EP drawing comparisons from bands such as Asking Alexandria, A Day To Remember and Bullet For My Valentine.

Opening tune 'Don't Hate The Player, Hate The Game' starts off promisingly enough with some heavy intensive instrumentation and growling vocals from the youthful northerners. 'Have Fun Storming The Castle' continues the musical onslaught with some interesting stuff going on within the song arrangements, the ferociousity has potential with the aforementioned Bullet For My Valentine influence springing to mind, especially with the killer riffage.

The song titles keep getting stranger too: 'If Cats Had Opposable Thumbs' purrs with its thunderous beats and venomous vocals, while 'We've Struck Gold' starts on a mellower note before growing out into another blistering metaltastic screamer of a track. 'Hobo With A Shotgun' concludes the business, once more based on some metalcore riffage, the vocals blending between screamadelica moments and harmonic elements that are of some note for such a youthful group unleashing their debut tunes.

A decent early offering; keep an eye out for these guys on the metalcore scene in the future.
