Featuring members from England, Belgium, Los Angeles and Kazakhstan, DORJA is a brand new all-female hard rock band that is already making a buzz online after only a few days in the public eye.

The five band members (Aiym Almas – Vocals; Holly Henderson – Guitar; Rosie Botterill – Guitar; Becky Baldwin – Bass; Anna Mylee – Drums) met for the first time in May 2016 in Los Angeles after months of writing collaboratively in online sessions. They recorded their debut demo track with Erich Gobel (Black Sabbath, John Mayer, Ray Charles) at West Triad Studios in California.

"It was a really crazy time for the three of us who flew over from England to work on the single in LA, this was also our first time meeting Aiym in person," commented bassist Becky, "so it was so exciting to get into the studio with her. Our previous Skype sessions and 'home demo' style remote recordings did no justice. Hearing that voice belting out at you in the same room is a phenomenal experience."

From the very start, the band have become a sensation on social media, and they have been intriguing many rock enthusiasts from all around the globe. The Belgian press have already picked up on this excitement ahead of their first music release. This early, widespread interest is perhaps due to that 'supergroup' quality of the band - these young women are not new to the scene, the members already won over audiences while performing with with other bands.

Aiym Almas is a Kazakhstan-born singer who moved to London to continue education and pursue music at the age of 16. Her nomad spirit finally brought her to LA where she emerged in the local music scene as a captivating performer. She has been gaining a lot of attention from bands and producers with her raw and powerful voice that is often likened to the legendary Janis Joplin.

Holly Henderson is a 20 year old guitarist from Kent, England. She has been a session musician and songwriter since her early teens and more recently has been a touring guitarist with the Sex Pissed Dolls.

Rosie Botterill is a London-based guitarist who has been playing with diverse rock bands and has been a touring guitarist with the Sex Pissed Dolls.

Becky Baldwin is one of Bristol's busiest bassists, performing approximately 100 gigs a year since 2012. Becky has released music and toured over the UK and Europe with a variety of acts, including heavy metallers Triaxis and Control The Storm, grrrl punk band IDestroy and '80s indie legends The Flatmates.

Anna Mylee is a Belgian drummer who studied and toured in the UK for over 5 years. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles under the mentorship of Kenny Aronoff and Mark Schulman.

On 30th June 2016, DORJA will release their first single, 'Fire', which has already gained the stamp of approval from rock 'n' roll royalty such as Mark Schulman (P!nk, Cher), who reacted with "This is the best band I have heard in years!"

'Fire' will be available for download on iTunes and Amazon, to stream on the band's Soundcloud, and to view on Youtube via their 'behind the scenes' style DIY music video, made with footage from their week together recording in LA.

The band will play their debut shows in a few select cities in the UK. Currently announced gigs are Thursday 21st July in Watford and Friday 22nd July in Birmingham.

The future for DORJA looks bright and very busy. Drummer Anna Mylee talks of their plans for 2017: "We are so pleased with interest we have received so far, it has just encouraged us to work harder. The rest of 2016 for us will mostly consist of writing and recording our debut album, ready for release in 2017. It has been tough to bring the members from different countries together, but they are all worth it. The first hurdle is over, now as we work together our music and performance will only get better and better. We thank you all for believing in us so early in this band's career."
