A support stint with Skid Row, appearances booked at both the Steelhouse and Download festivals - the future is certainly looking bright for Buffalo Summer. Uber Rock's Rob Watkins caught the band, supported by quickly rising local outfit Fireroad, at the Steelhouse itself. Hit that link for more......

Good things come to those who wait apparently, but fans of Brit rockers The Union thankfully didn’t have to wait too long to see the rescheduled dates that followed a bout of illness that laid low frontman Pete Shoulder back in February. Johnny H caught up with the band in Newport and found that right now the hard rocking world really is theirs to own.

Adored by students, the perma-beige sweaty Scottish oafs Biffy Clyro brought their arena tour to Cardiff, complete with high quality support band and a stage show that looked like it was borrowed from a bunch of Ewoks. Uber Rock's Ian Bell, taking a night off from gazing at his loafers and going to the rugger, watched the show...so you didn't have to.....

Talk about bringing coals to Newcastle. When FM announced back at the start of the year they would be kicking off their ‘Rockville’ UK tour in the hometown of Dave Prince it was like our man with the pink flannel suit had written the press release himself. Add in an equally strong AOR under card and all that was really missing was a keytar…Oh right; he got one of them too. Click the Read More link and all will be explained.

Returning to the UK for a headline tour just five months after their debut stint in this country on top of the bill, Halestorm, still celebrating their recent Grammy win, preceded a support slot on the Bullet For My Valentine European tour with an attention-grabbing series of shows all on their own. Uber Rock's Gaz E, convinced he had seen the next big thing last year, has his opinion confirmed on a windy night in Cardiff.....

While the majority of York's music aficionados were watching Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr at The Duchess Uber Rock's Ben Hughes was in a venue around the corner, happy to go against the grain, helped, of course, by the two hot-panted garage rock vixens appearing on the stage before him. Who are Deap Vally, you may ask, and why does Ben think that they'll be the next buzz band on the festival circuit?

Taking a night off (so to speak) from opening up for top hatted guitar legend Slash, Cambridge bad boys The Treatment found themselves back at the Diamond Rock Club in Ahoghill recently on a night when men who really should know better were whole heartedly embracing a gender bending theme night. Mark Ashby a man who does know better was just there to experience the rock ‘n’ roll.

Danish cow punks D-A-D have been one of those bands we have always admired from afar here at URHQ, with their ‘No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims’ album they certainly promised a lot, then it all went a bit…quiet. Playing the odd show every now and then in the U.K. we’d always wanted to check Jesper and the boys out live but never really got the chance, that is until Ian Bell snook along to the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton recently and finally got to tick the band off our list. Here’s to a night of ‘Bad Craziness’.

There's not a lot that gets Russ P out of the house never mind half way across Europe unless, that is, the prospect of seeing Jarle Bernhoft raises its head. Cramming in two Danish shows by the man in question (albeit this time "with band") in a just under 24 hours, our globetrotting man on a mission experiences the highs and lows of foreign gig going in what just might turn out to be the trip of his lifetime.

With Ghost’s second album ‘Infestissumam’ about to be given a big label push that could very well see them leaving smaller venues behind all too quickly Jim Rowland set his sights on a night out of the smoke in the quaint surrounding of Bournemouth’s O2 Academy for perhaps one last intimate dalliance with his ghoulish heroes. Satan’s got some prog for our intrepid scribe but is he ready to do some prog moshing?

Not only did Uber Rock's Jamie Richards journey all the way to the Big Smoke from his lusty Welsh hamlet to see the first gig proper from mysterious rock curios Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, but he also became the one of the first human beings to (almost) get a good look at what the band actually look like.....

The Status Quo of the last quarter of a century may well have become some kind of cabaret act churning out questionable hit singles, but the Frantic Four - the line-up of Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan - was a different prospect entirely. Reuniting for one time only, the seminal line-up of the legendary band offered much - Uber Rock's Ian Bell was at one of the gigs happily discovering that it not only offered, but delivered.....

Just one look at the tour poster promoting this meeting of prog rock giants Neal Morse and The Flower Kings would have had most of us at URHQ running for cover, but not Jim Rowland. No he of stout prog heart is actually in early doors at the Electric Ballroom for all 3 and ½ hours of the show that he proudly proclaims “makes Yes look like the Ramones.”

With certain other gigs claiming they are finding it hard to sell tickets right now, Jim Rowland finds himself squeezed into the stalls like a southern sardine at just one of many sold out shows on this current Black Stone Cherry UK tour. The reason? People seem to love the new kings of Southern Rock plus they also have one hell of an opening act out with them in the shape of Rival Sons. Jim explains all here....
