The Über Rock Interview: Timmy Rough (The New Roses) Print E-mail
Written by Allan Maxwell
Sunday, 13 August 2017 04:00

The New Roses PR picThe New Roses play what our man Allan Maxwell describes as the sort of “hard-hitting, alcohol-fuelled rock and roll you would expect from your typical dirty dive bar in down town LA... not from the sleepy Rheingua region in Germany”. They have built up a substantial following since the release of 2016’s breakthrough album, ‘Dead Man's Chest’, by racking up the miles via the old school method of playing show after show all across Europe – as frontman Timmy Rough attested when Über Rock caught up with him ahead of the release of forthcoming new album, ‘One More For The Road’:

The BIG Über Rock Interview: Dan Baird Print E-mail
Written by Gerald Stansbury
Sunday, 04 June 2017 04:00

Dan Baird 4When we describe this as the BIG Über Rock interview, we’re probably under-selling it slightly, as it’s absolutely HUGE. Our man Gerald Stansbury recently had the opportunity to catch up with one of the hardest working men in rock ‘n’ roll, Mr Dan Baird, to talk about his recently released new solo and Homemade Sin albums, the different creative processes behind them, the vagaries of getting old and a bunch of other stuff. So, pour yourself a bourbon, settle into your favourite rocking chair and enjoy:

The Über Rock Interview: Astrid Carsbring (Heavy Tiger) Print E-mail
Written by Gerald Stansbury
Sunday, 28 May 2017 04:00

Heavy TigerThis past February, our man Ben Hughes practically came all over his copy of Heavy Tiger’s ‘Glitter’ album, describing it as “a sticky sweet, sugar buzz of an album” with “just the right mix of punk attitude, pop suss and glam stomp” and predicting it would be near the top of many of the inevitable end of year lists… Gerald Stansbury tends to agree with him, and therefore jumped at the chance to grab a chat with drummer Astrid Carsbring to find out more about the band and the album:

Duncan Reid - Camden 1Who would have thought that one of UR’s favourite power pop punk rock ‘n’ roll songsmiths used to struggle to produce a single word, never mind a tune? Yep, indeed he did folks, as Dom Daley found out when he caught up with ex-The Boys bassist turned Big Head Duncan Reid following his recent triumphant Camden show to discuss his transition from sidekick to main man:

The Big Über Rock Interview: Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter) Print E-mail
Written by Jonni D
Sunday, 30 April 2017 04:30

Demon Hunter sigilIt’s not often that you find a metal album reaching as high as #25 on the Billboard 200 these days. It’s even more of an impressive feat for a band as late as eight albums into their career to achieve such an accolade. However, such was the reception to Demon Hunter’s latest release ‘Outlive.’ Heavy rotation on MTV’s Headbangers Ball and a spot on the ‘Resident Evil: Apocalypse’ soundtrack helped the band’s name become more widely known in the mid-Noughties. Since then, Demon Hunter has managed to retain their core fan base whilst continuing to grow in popularity, with a continued dedication to frequently releasing new material. Jonni D caught up with front man Ryan Clark to discuss some of the lyrical topics on ‘Outlive’, as well as the band’s evolving sound and their longevity in the industry:

Dendera artworkWe didn’t give poor Linzi A much time to breathe when she broke her Bloodstock duck earlier this month… hardly had she pitched her tent and we had her diving into the thick of the action, with a list of interviews as long as her arm to conduct.  Her first victim, sorry subject, was Ashley Edison, vocalist with Dendera, who also turned out to be a BOA virgin; but, as you’ll see, the conversation quickly turned to Harry Potter:
