A remarkable eight years into their career, Birmingham “upstarts” SHVPES have only recently released their debut album, ‘Pain. Joy. Ecstasy. Despair’, which they are currently out on the road promoting as the opening act on Trivium’s latest UK and European tour.


I caught up with lead singer Griffin Dickinson immediately prior to the sold out Belfast show to talk about why the fuck they changed the “a” in their name to a “v”, the aforesaid album, how his rather famous dad didn’t actually know he was fronting a heavy metal band and the downside of going head to head with skateboard legend Tony Hawk:
