WATAIN announce 'All That May Bleed' single release Print E-mail
Wednesday, 15 May 2013 14:22

watainsinglecover

'ALL THAT MAY BLEED', the first single from WATAIN's new album 'The Wild Hunt', will be released on Summer Solstice, June 21st (see exact worldwide release dates below).

The band comments: "All that May Bleed shows but one facet of a quite diverse album, but we chose this song as a first glimpse into 'The Wild Hunt' because of its bombastic lunacy and white-eyed malevolence which could be said to constitute a main foundation for the album. The lyric is an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!"

Side B will be track called 'Play with the Devil' originally recorded by the Black/Heavy Metal band Taiwaz in 1988, in Watain's hometown Uppsala. Gottfrid Åhman from In Solitude participates on solo guitar in Watain's version.

Win a Jackson guitar signed by SCOTT IAN of ANTHRAX!! Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 May 2013 15:57

scottian500

Fancy getting your hands on a guitar signed by the legendary SCOTT IAN of ANTHRAX? You can now be in with a chance to win a signed Jackson JS32RT Dinky in Transparent Black.

5 Jacksons are up for grabs when you purchase a ticket to Scott Ian's Speaking Word Tour 2013. Each night all ticket buyers will be entered into a raffle with one lucky winner winning a bag of merch. Each winner will then be entered into another raffle which will see 5 ticket buyers win a Jackson guitar signed by Scott.

Further details can be found at:

http://scott-ian.com/

Scott Ian will be heading out for a full UK 'Speaking Words' tour later this month. The tour comes in light of his highly successful spoken word evening at The Garage, London in November 2012.

Scott Ian:

"My first 'Speaking Words' tour and I get to do it in the UK and Ireland? Really? Wow, how fucking cool is that!!! My one-off show in London went so well and now I get to speak words at you all over the place. Thank you for having a superior sense of humour.

I'm calling it 'Speaking Words' because the pretension of saying I am doing a 'Spoken Word' tour is too much to bear. This ain't no poetry reading. This isn't an evening of sensitive discourse.

It's an evening of ridiculous truth. It's me talking (swearing) about this insane life I've led over the last 31 years, the people I've met and the shit that's happened. And when I'm done swearing, you can ask me anything you want, the floor is yours.

Cheers my friends, see you in May and June."

In a career spanning three decades, Scott Ian, as the co-founding member of Anthrax, helped to create the New Wave of American Heavy Metal or as it's more commonly known, Thrash Metal in the mid-80s. Scott is widely known as the face of Anthrax, and for being a constant and extremely recognizable figure in the worlds of music, poker, comics, movies and television.

In a rare outing Scott will do a spoken word performance. The show is very entertaining and funny, filled with stories from his 30+ years of travelling around the world. The night concludes with a Q & A where the audience gets to ask Scott what they want to know.

Scott Ian's 'Speaking Words' tour will be sponsored by Metal Hammer magazine. Catch the tour at:

JANE'S ADDICTION will release 'Live In NYC' on June 24th on DVD, Blu-ray, CD, double vinyl LP and digital formats, via Capitol/UMC.

From the beginning, JANE'S ADDICTION have thrown the most unique parties in rock, mixing a fierce musicality with theatrical flair onstage. 2012 saw the band - who've always outrageously combined electricity, sex and danger - return to the stage in support of their acclaimed album THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST (Capitol Records).

LIVE IN NYC was filmed in New York City at Terminal 5 on December 29th, 2012 during a special run of North American shows - called “Theatre of the Escapists”- with the band performing in intimate venues, most of which are classic theatres. The alternative rock pioneers - frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass - captured this immersive theatrical experience on tape and are making available via LIVE IN NYC on multiple formats.

“We chose to play as many of the great theatres that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show,” said FARRELL in the band's tour announcement. “Expect an orgy of musical and visual delights. We like orgies, and hope you do too.”

The album will be released on the following formats: Digital, DVD and Blu-ray (running time 69 mins), DVD & CD, CD – both with 12 page booklets and sticker and also double vinyl LP – which is the first live vinyl release since 1987's self-titled on Triple X Records.

bonfireliveinwackensleeve

BONFIRE will release a new live album, 'Live In Wacken', on LZ Records/ Sony on CD and LP on May 31st, 2013.

Sometimes you just need a little bit of luck. Because of a funny coincidence the long lost original recordings from BONFIRE’s appearance at the Wacken Open Air have been discovered. This almost historical piece of music has been sonically updated and will now be released officially.

The German rock legend is releasing the album as a teaser before its new studio record ‐ planned for the end of the year. Of course, there have been some BONFIRE live records in the past, but on 'Live In Wacken' you can really find different versions of the band’s anthems like 'SDI', 'Champion' or 'Ready 4 Reaction' as well as the song 'Wake Up'. An anthem the band hasn’t performed live for quite a long time.

Besides that 'Live In Wacken' offers exclusive bonus tracks. Live versions of the songs 'Bells Of Freedom', 'Let Me Be Your Water' and 'Black Night' from the acclaimed rock opera 'The Räuber' (previously unreleased on CD), the exclusive studio track 'Thank You' and an exciting new version of the ballad 'Hold Me Now' from the last BONFIRE studio album, 'Branded'.

'Live In Wacken' has been mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Yngwie Malmsteen, Rob Halford, Queensryche) and has the following tracklisting:

1. Intro/Wake Up (Live), 2. Never Mind (Live), 3. Sweet Obsession (Live), 4. In Zaire (Live), 5. The Stroke (Live), 6. Sword And Stone (Live), 7. SDI (Live), 8. Drum Solo (Live), 9. American Nights (Live), 10. Ready 4 Reaction (Live), 11. Obsessive Prelude (Live), 12. Champion (Live), 13. The Räuber/Bells Of Freedom (Live), 14. Let Me Be Your Water (Live), 15. Black Night (Live), 16. Thank You (Previously Unreleased), 17. Hold Me Now (Extended Mix 2013)

skidrowbandpromoheader

'United World Rebellion - Chapter One', the new EP from SKID ROW, will be released in Europe on May 24th via Germany's UDR Music, this latest release featuring two bonus tracks.

The bonus tracks, filling the EP out to seven songs, are a pair of cover versions, "one you'll know very well," says the band's guitarist Scotti Hill, "one of them you may have to go back into the archives, a little more obscure...but it's really cool."

The former is a cover of 'United' by Judas Priest, the latter a cover of 'Fire Fire', the title track of the 1989 album from Japanese rockers EZO!

Uber Rock recognises the lack of EZO in the modern rock world and approves of this fine move by Skid Row.

'United World Rebellion - Chapter One' European Edition tracklisting:

01. Kings Of Demolition
02. Let's Go
03. This Is Killing Me
04. Get Up

07. United (JUDAS PRIEST cover)

DUFF McKAGAN documentary secures worldwide distribution rights Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 May 2013 15:44

Vision Films, a worldwide distributor of independent films, has announced that the company has secured worldwide distribution rights to former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan's autobiographical documentary, 'It's So Easy And Other Lies'.

Based on the New York Times best seller about Duff's life, the film, which is written and directed by Christopher Duddy (Cougar Club), and is produced by McKagan, Duddy and Rainstorm Entertainment's Steven G. Kaplan (The Big Empty). The film is executive-produced by Daniel Zirilli (Locked Down), Joe Mundo (Sunset Strip) and Kati Thomson (Sunset Strip).

'It's So Easy And Other Lies' features Duff McKagan and exclusive rare archive footage of his early days with original GN'R members Slash, Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose, as well as later members Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum, and contemporaries Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue) and much more.

Watch the trailer below:

This authorized biographical documentary takes the audience on an incredible cinematic journey through the unbelievable rise of a driven teenager's meager beginnings on the streets of Seattle, to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The man is Michael McKagan, better known to the world as Duff. The band is Guns N' Roses. The band became the ultimate icons of sex, drugs and rock and roll, causing pandemonium in their wake, but the lifestyle caught up with Duff, leaving him close to death. Follow Duff's journey through original archival footage and interviews with many of the people who took this wild ride, including a constellation of rock stars that rose to fame alongside him, and the people who inspired him to overcome his addictions.

'It's So Easy And Other Lies' began production this past March by filming one of Duff's book readings at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, and recent performances with his bands Walking Papers and Loaded. The film will contain rare archive footage from Marc Canter, who filmed all the early footage of GN'R behind the scenes and performances, as well as an ultimate collector's soundtrack for the fans.

"Vision Films is excited to begin sales of 'It's So Easy And Other Lies'," said Lise Romanoff, managing director and CEO of worldwide distribution. "The title is a one of a kind look into one of the most iconic bands in rock history."

Vision Films will be screening a teaser and some selected clips from 'It's So Easy And Other Lies' to buyers at their stand in the Riviera in Cannes.

Details revealed of forthcoming double DVD from RAVEN Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 May 2013 15:40

RAVEN will release a double DVD, 'Rock Until You Drop/A Long Days Journey', as a digipak via SPV/Steamhammer on the following dates:

Germany: June 21stravendvd
Europe: June 24th
US/Canada: July 2nd

From the well documented early days as NWOBHM frontrunners, RAVEN’s albums 'Rock Until You Drop', 'Wiped Out' and 'All For One' virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres - during the trailblazing USA tours of the '80s introducing the States to 'athletic rock' as well as giving opening acts like METALLICA and ANTHRAX their first tours, through the doldrums of the late '80s/early '90s when a grunge obsessed media wrote off so many acts - Raven has consistently proved to be both survivors par excellence and in a genre of grim imitation - shown that they are "the real thing."

The unique personality, power and humor of the three band members has always shone through. The crazed vocals and bass playing of John Gallagher, the full frontal guitar assault of brother, Mark Gallagher, and the punishing polyrhythmic pounding of drummer, Joe Hasselvander, all combine to form a sonic battering ram unique in rock.

Tracklisting DVD 1 (Documentary approximately 190 min):

The whole story featuring Live Concert footage, interviews and photos

- 14 songs from 1982 up to present 'Tyrant Of The Airways', 'Faster Than The Speed Of Light', 'Crash Bang Wallop', 'Take Control', 'On And On' and many more

- Exclusive interviews with: Lars Ulrich (METALLICA), Michael Wagener (producer), Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER), Chuck Billy (TESTAMENT), Dave Ellefson (MEGADETH) and many more

- Slideshow

- Photos throughout the years

Tracklisting DVD 2:

Extras (approximately 90 min)

- 7 extra songs

- 5 full edits of songs 'Crazy World', 'Hellpatrol', 'Lambs To The Slaughter', 'Architect of Fear' and many more

- 19 min of extra footage, interviews and studio outtakes

Specs:
NTSC
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Region Code: 0 (All)
Sound: 2.0 Dolby Digital
Length all: approx.: four hours, 30 minutes

Hailed by many as the guitar hero of our era General Bastard and his band mates have wowed audiences and built a loyal fan base all across the United States with their blend of Surf Thrash. General Bastard also starred in and wrote/performed music for the now cult classic horror film Thankskilling which has been available on every major cable system in the U.S, not to mention a top rated film on Netflix and Hulu and has built up a huge cult fan base. General Bastard has also been playing guitar with legendary shock rock band The Mentors for years as well.

Decked out in camouflage and Luchador mask the General amazes audiences with his guitar acrobats playing songs and solos over the neck of his guitar and displaying an ability to play one handed solos using only his pickhand tapping on the fretboard with his fingers.

General Bastard also shows a diverse range of influences with songs ranging from Punk & metal to straight up surf music that would make Dick Dale himself proud and a knack for covering television theme songs such as The Jeffersons, Laverne & Shirley, King of the Hill and many others.

General Bastard songs are also filled with humor that hasn't been seen since the likes of Frank Zappa. Metal Maniacs magazine said this about General Bastard, "Combining hilarious thought provoking original material alongside your favorite TV themes songs like Laverne & Shirley & Gilligans Island among others. The General will have you laughing and singing along all night long! He's not politically correct, he hates sissy rockers like Scott Stapp & Creed, he sings about how 'Emo Must Die' and 'Simon Cowell is Fucking With Me' and other tender nuggets like 'I Hope You Have a Heart Attack & Fucking Die.'

Part Big Time Wrestler, Part Bastardized General, Part Professional Pervert The General says the things we're all thinking, but are too afraid to talk about just in case big brother is scantering about.

Canadian punks TRIGGER EFFECT offer free download of new track Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 May 2013 15:25

triggereffect500

TRIGGER EFFECT's monumental new album 'What's Left To Eliminate?' will be their first to be released in the UK. It's out on May 27th through UK indie label Dry Heave, but you can get a free taster right now as the band have made 'X: He Knows Now' available for free download here! Trigger Effect will also hitting these shores in June for a week of live maelstrom.

The new opus was rehearsed and scrutinized at length in between tours in true Trigger Effect fashion. Produced by Ian Blurton whose credits include The Weakerthans and Cursed, at first glance the album's sequence seems to echo their past efforts as one song crashes seamlessly into another but this time around the band have attempted a more narrative flow with each song contributing a chapter to a cohesive brutal rock and roll saga of despair and redemption.

Hailing from the frozen great white north of Montreal, Quebec in Canada are the five piece punk chaos machine that is Trigger Effect. They first came to the attention of their core fanbase with the release of their first album, 2007's blistering 22 minute opus 'Dare to Ride the Heliocraft', as the band toured relentlessly, taking in Canada, the US and Europe.

With a sound falling somewhere between the thunderous melody of The Bronx, mixed with the technical discordance of Refused, the rock 'n' roll fury of Zeke, all delivered with the ferocity of Black Flag, their non-stop, chaos-filled sets have built them a reputation as one of the most explosive live bands on the scene. To date the band has owned 4 vans, had 1 stolen, released 5 pieces of vinyl on many different labels around the world and played more than 600 shows and festivals with more bands in more countries/states/provinces than can be listed here. The boys of Trigger Effect are now the men of Trigger Effect and as always the Turbo Machine does not die.

The current Quireboys drummer Matt Goom yesterday announced that he would be leaving the band:

"Hello my friends .....

Just to let you all know I have decided to call it a day and leave The Quireboys.

Over the last two and a half years I have had the best of times with the band and I take away many great memories. However, I feel the time is right for me now to move on and pursue my own musical endeavours.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the guys and wish them the best of luck in the future. I'm now ready for a new Rock n Roll adventure and I will see you all very soon ... That's a promise!! Thanks to you all for your continued love and support...it really does make a big difference!!"
