JANE'S ADDICTION have released a teaser trailer for 'Live in NYC', released on June 24th on DVD, Blu-ray, CD, double vinyl LP and digital formats, via Capitol/UMC. Watch the clip below.

From the beginning, JANE'S ADDICTION have thrown the most unique parties in rock, mixing a fierce musicality with theatrical flair onstage. 2012 saw the band - who've always outrageously combined electricity, sex and danger - return to the stage in support of their acclaimed album THE GREAT ESCAPE ARTIST (Capitol Records).

LIVE IN NYC was filmed in New York City at Terminal 5 on December 29th, 2012 during a special run of North American shows - called “Theatre of the Escapists”- with the band performing in intimate venues, most of which are classic theatres. The alternative rock pioneers - frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass - captured this immersive theatrical experience on tape and are making available via LIVE IN NYC on multiple formats.

“We chose to play as many of the great theatres that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show,” said FARRELL in the band's tour announcement. “Expect an orgy of musical and visual delights. We like orgies, and hope you do too.”

The album will be released on the following formats: Digital, DVD and Blu-ray (running time 69 mins), DVD & CD, CD – both with 12 page booklets and sticker and also double vinyl LP – which is the first live vinyl release since 1987's self-titled on Triple X Records.

ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND to see best selling album reissued in deluxe CD sets Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 June 2013 21:09

allmanheader

When the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND's fifth album, 'Brothers and Sisters', was released on Capricorn Records in August 1973, the legendary southern blues-rock group had already achieved world-wide fame with their 1971 live album, 'At Fillmore East'. This success was followed by the tragic loss of their founder, leader and musical visionary, guitarist Duane Allman, who died in a motorcycle crash on October 29, 1971. Arguably at the peak of their popularity, the band's album followed the release of the two-disc 'Eat a Peach', which came out on February 12, 1972, the last recording to include contributions by Duane.

While regrouping under the leadership of singer/organist Gregg Allman and guitarist/vocalist Dickey Betts "the last guitarist standing in a group noted for its dual leads" The Allman Brothers Band soldiered on with 'Brothers and Sisters', which turned out to be their most successful selling recording to date, spending five weeks at #1 and the first to achieve platinum status. To mark its 40th anniversary, the original classic recording - which includes such Allman standards as “Ramblin’ Man,” “Wasted Words,” “Jessica” and “Come and Go Blues” - will be re-released in re-mastered form on both CD and vinyl, with deluxe two-CD and four-CD box sets that include previously unreleased rehearsals, jams and outtakes on Universal Music Enterprises.

“Brothers and Sisters documents a band reinventing itself and finding a new direction after a traumatic loss,” says UMe Chairman/CEO Bruce Resnikoff. “The two deluxe editions, through these previously unreleased rehearsals, jams and outtakes, offer a priceless glimpse inside that creative process.”

The album’s famous front cover features a photo of Vaylor Trucks, the son of drummer Butch Trucks, while the back sports a shot of Brittany Oakley, the daughter of bassist Berry Oakley. The gatefold pictures the entire Allmans family: band members, roadies, wives, girlfriends, children, dogs, all in a seemingly idyllic Southern setting, capturing the family nature of the project.

The deluxe two-CD edition of Brothers and Sisters includes the original remastered recording as well as previously unreleased rehearsals of “Wasted Words,” “Trouble No More,” “One Way Out,” “I’m Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town” and “Done Somebody Wrong”; outtakes of the instrumental “Southbound,” “Double Cross” and “Early Morning Blues,” as well as the brand-new archival find, “A Minor Jam.” The four-CD set includes two discs devoted to a live performance at Winterland in San Francisco, Sept. 26, 1973, right after Brothers and Sisters’ release, featuring an introduction by Bill Graham and previously unavailable live versions of “Done Somebody Wrong,” “Stormy Monday,” “Midnight Rider,” “Statesboro Blues,” “You Don’t Love Me” (which includes “Amazing Grace”), “Les Brers in A Minor,” “Blue Sky,” “Trouble No More” and “Whipping Post,” along with two Brothers and Sisters tracks in “Come and Go Blues” and “Jessica.”

THE BERMONDSEY JOYRIDERS to support THE FLAMIN' GROOVIES at rare UK show Print E-mail
Wednesday, 12 June 2013 16:01

Flamin Groovies BJRs July 2nd

The Bermondsey Joyriders are delighted to announce they will open for The Flamin’ Groovies when the legendary San Francisco psych-rockers return to the UK this summer, after an absence of more than 30 years.

The radical London blues-punks will appear as the only support to the recently reunited Groovies’ at their London Scala show on July 2nd.

Frontman Gary Lammin comments that it’s an honour to be invited to share a stage with “one of the greatest psych garage bands known to humanity.” He adds “it feels like The Bermondsey Joyriders have been given the nod, not just because of our music, but also because we have a compatible angle and edge, and a certain underground attitude. We will certainly make sure our Edwardian frock coats and cravats are immaculately dry cleaned to the highest standard!”

Cyril Jordon, Chris Wilson and George Alexander - The ‘Groovies line-up that rocked stages around the globe between 1971 and 80 - have recently returned to the studio to finish up long-lost recordings and cut some brand new material.  Since hitting the road again with new addition Victor Penalosa on drums, they’ve toured in Japan and Australia, and headed home to play a San Francisco show which sold out in less than 24 hours.  The Scala gig will be their only headline date during a whistle-stop visit to the UK this summer, which also includes an appearance at Hard Rock Calling festival in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Under the Bermondsey Joyriders banner, Gary Lammin (vocals/guitar, formerly of Joe Strummer protégés The Little Roosters), Martin Stacey (bass, ex-Chelsea) and Chris Musto (drums, ex-Johnny Thunders’ Oddballs), have established a sonic signature fusing the righteous anger of their punk rock roots with slide blues and psychedelic sounds.  Their second album ‘Noise & Revolution’ - an ambitious concept piece with 60s counter-culture icon John Sinclair - attracted much critical praise upon its release last May and was voted Vive le Rock magazine readers’ ‘Album of 2012’. The trio are currently working on a follow-up, which Lammin says won’t so much move on from ‘Noise & Revolution’s grand concepts  as “see The Bermondsey Joyriders speeding away in a get away car; we’ll be diving in and running fast, dynamic and at lightening speed!”

The Bermondsey Joyriders play:

Tues 2nd July - LONDON, The Scala (supporting The Flamin’ Groovies)

Tickets priced at £22.50 adv.  Doors 7.30pm

A legion of guest stars set to appear on debut solo album from REUBEN ARCHER Print E-mail
Wednesday, 12 June 2013 15:56

reubenarcheralbumcover

REUBEN ARCHER, vocalist with hard rockers STAMPEDE and former vocalist of LAUTREC, WILD HORSES and LIONHEART, is set to release his debut solo album ‘Personal Sin’ this summer, featuring guest appearances from members of Y&T, THUNDER, WHITESNAKE, MAGNUM, UFO, STATUS QUO, SAXON,  MSG and more.

‘Personal Sin’ features 13 tracks produced by Reuben and Rob Wolverson and mastered by Ade Emsley (Iron Maiden, Steve Harris). Set for an August 19 release, it will signal the debut release on the newly launched Toxic Arrow Records, a joint venture between Reuben Archer and daughter/manager Lauren Archer of Archer Williams Management distributed via Cargo Records.

The album features guest appearances from Dave Meniketti (Y&T), John ‘Rhino’ Edwards (Status Quo), Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Gary Moore, Snakecharmer), Harry James (Magnum, Thunder, Snakecharmer), Luke Morley (The Union, Thunder), Paul Quinn (Saxon), Paul Raymond (UFO, PRP), Derek Holt (Climax Blues Band), Rocky Newton (Lionheart, MSG), Kevin Riddles (Angel Witch, Tytan) and more.

The album will be preceded by the release of double A-side digital single ‘Play My Rock ‘n’ Roll’ / ‘Lately’ ft. Harry James and Kevin Riddles on July 22.

Reuben, who reformed melodic hard rockers and NWOBHM stalwarts Stampede in 2009 and is currently fronting the live line up of the Paul Raymond Project, took the decision to team up with young hot-shot Stampede guitarist and multi-talented music virtuoso Rob Wolverson to make a solo record last year after celebrating a landmark birthday.

“I had some ideas and material knocking around which I’d wanted to explore for ages, which involved bigger production and more instrumentation than I’ve usually had with my other bands. I wanted a big melodic sound, and around the time of my 70th celebrations last year I thought that there was no time like the present to make it happen, especially since developing a great songwriting partnership with Rob”, explains Reuben.

“The idea was always to invite fellow musicians to participate on the thirteen tracks, and I have been honoured to have so many eminent musician friends that I’ve made over the years who have lent their valuable talent and time to achieve the end result.  Together with a core of great musician friends from around the Midlands, the project began to grow.”

On the subject of the title ‘Personal Sin’, Reuben comments: “Once you’re involved with rock ‘n’ roll it never leaves you; even in my case with a lengthy sabbatical I am still as passionate about it as I was back in ‘74 when I started.  Rock ‘n’ roll gave me excitement pleasure and heartache too. Good times, bad times and at times personal grief.   I know for a fact it’s never going to leave me; it is an integral part of my life.”

Reuben Archer’s Personal Sin tracklisting:

1.   Bulletproof
2.   Play My Rock 'n' Roll (ft. Rocky Newton)
3.   Personal Sin (ft. Dave Meniketti, Harry James & John 'Rhino' Edwards)

Welcome to the world of Radkey. A trio of teenage brothers from Missouri, mid-west America, whose blend of driving rock 'n' roll and incendiary punk have caused a stir both sides of the pond this year.

After storming SXSW 2013 with a couple of show-stopping performances, guitar wielding vocalist Dee Radke, bassist Isaiah Radke (who also shares vocal duties) and drummer Solomon Radke are about to play their first UK shows this month, and release their stunning debut limited vinyl release, the 'Cat & Mouse' EP on 15th July.

Lead track and debut single, 'Cat & Mouse' features an infectious opening riff and vocal that'll both mesmerise and haunt in equal pleasures. With a sound that's up there with the likes of Danzig, The Misfits and The Ramones, this trio play fast and pack a catchy punch with the urgency of a band that are doing this for the here and now.

The three brothers have been cutting their teeth for a couple of years in Kansas City and beyond. Home schooled their entire lives, their father, Matt, is able to drive them around the country to and from shows making sure no opportunity is left unturned.

Alongside slaying stages in their wake, Dee is learning to read and write Japanese and absolutely hates milk, Isaiah is a movie addict and king of all first-person shooter video games, whilst Solomon, the youngest of the trio, hates all flying insects that can sting, but he loves beef jerky, spicy food and can beat anyone at Halo.

This month the band will be leaving the US for the first time ever to bring their furious live show to the UK. Make sure you catch Radkey's debut UK performance at Download Festival on Sunday June 16th at the Red Bull Stage and their debut, headline London show at The Barfly on the 19th June.

WALTER LURE of THE HEARTBREAKERS to play three UK shows in August Print E-mail
Tuesday, 11 June 2013 22:28

walter 100 club 2010 by ila

Following two successful tours in 2010 and 2011, WALTER LURE makes a welcome return to the UK this summer. The original guitarist and co-vocalist with Johnny Thunders’ iconic New York punks The Heartbreakers will play three shows in August, including a set at Blackpool punk gathering Rebellion Festival.

Walter is once again joined by bassist 'Rockin' Ray Birch, drummer Ozzie (both of Gunfire Dance), and guitarist Jez Miller (Lords of the New Church / The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing); the British bandmates who orchestrated his return to these shores in 2010 after a 26 year absence.  Branded “a smash success” by Vive le Rock magazine, that first tour culminated in a sweaty, sold-out gig at London’s legendary 100 Club, where the band were joined onstage by original Sex Pistol Glen Matlock. Public demand prompted Walter to play again just 12 months later, when a capacity crowd at Camden’s Purple Turtle were treated to a guest turn by Heartbreakers’ bassist Billy Rath.

The identities of special guests for 2013 are being kept a closely guarded secret, but one thing fans can be sure of when Walter comes to town is one very special setlist. Joining forces with Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan after they split from the New York Dolls in 1975, Walter played an integral part in establishing The Heartbreakers’ ragged rock ‘n’ roll identity. As a guitarist, he provided the urgent punk rhythms that connected Johnny’s switchblade re-trace of Eddie Cochran and Chuck Berry with the New York subway train rumble of Billy’s bass, while as a songwriter his collaborations with drummer Jerry included classic cuts from ‘77’s ‘L.A.M.F’ album, such as ‘All By Myself’ and ‘Get Off The Phone’.  Post-Heartbreakers, Walter was invited to contribute guitar to three of The Ramones mid-80s albums, and later established his own group The Waldos, whose 1994 debut ‘Rent Party‘ is to be reissued by Jungle Records to coincide with this year’s UK tour.

Featuring some of the finest slices of Big Apple punk around and yet notoriously let down by poor production, ‘L.A.M.F’ continues to fascinate and frustrate fans, and earlier this year Jungle issued a critically praised 4-disc boxset of remasters and alternative mixes titled ‘The Definitive Edition’.  Those who caught Walter’s sell-out shows in 2010/11 will be aware that the place these tunes are truly done justice is onstage. Now earning a living on Wall Street and touring in his holiday time, Walter is one a few 70s stars who can honestly say he’s on the road today purely for the love of playing live.  That passion is strongly apparent in intense, immensely enjoyable shows, which see him unleash an infectious energy and excitement, and keep appreciative audiences coming back for more.

Walter Lure plays:

Thurs 8th August - BLACKPOOL, Winter Gardens (Rebellion Festival)
Fri 9th August - BRISTOL, Exchange (w/Healthy Junkies). Doors 7pm / £12 adv
Sat 10th August - LONDON, The Underworld (w/The Parkinsons, Electric River & The Terraces)  Doors 6pm / £15 adv.

'Rent Party' is released on August 12th via Jungle Records, Cat No. FREUDCD114
