THE JIM JONES REVUE have released a new video for '7 Times Around The Sun', the band's next single set for release via Play It Again Sam and Punk Rock Blues Records on Monday 13th May.
Watch the video below.
'7 Times Around The Sun' is the third single to be released from The Jim Jones Revue's critically acclaimed album 'The Savage Heart', produced by Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Band Seeds). '7 Times Around The Sun' is a great example of 'The Savage Heart's musical diversity - No guitars (A JJR first!), just piano, drums and a call and response gospel type vocal between Jim Jones and The Revue. Lyrically Jim delves into the past and deals with the subject of overcoming drug addiction touching on a part of a personal journey that ultimately led to the forming of The Jim Jones Revue with Rupert Orton.
The Jim Jones Revue have built a formidable reputation as a live band selling out The Electric Ballroom and a host of other venues on their last UK tour last October. To mark the release of '7 Times Around The Sun' The JJR have curated a special event going back to their roots with a 4 date residency at The Sebright Arms in the heart of their home in Hackney. Over four shows at The Sebright The JJR have hand picked a bill of friends, special guests, bands and DJs. Among many highlights will be guest spots from Emma Richardson from Band of Skulls and Hollie Cook, DJs including Douglas Hart (The Jesus & Mary Chain) and Barry ‘Scratchy” Myers (The Clash tour DJ) plus many more guests and DJs to be announced nearer the time or on the night of the shows.
Support acts confirmed so far include John J Presley and The Rotten Hill Gang. The Rotten Hill Gang show is a West/East London rematch after TRHG invited Jim and Rupert to play with them on a special Rotten Hill TV show directed by The Clash’s Mick Jones filmed in his West London studio and compered by Don Letts. One of the tracks they played together was 'Tin Soldier' by The Small Faces which The JJR will play with Hollie Cook & Annie Bea on backing vocals. More bands, special guests, DJs and surprises to be announced over the forthcoming weeks.

KINGDOM COME have released the video for new track, 'God Does Not Sing Our Song' - watch it below.
'God Does Not Sing Our Song' is taken from Kingdom Come's new album, 'Outlier', which will be released worldwide through SPV/Steamhammer and will be available as CD and download in Germany on April 26th, in Europe on April 29th and in the US/Canada on May 7th.
Greek melodic metallers FIREWIND, featuring guitar-wizard Gus G., have recently returned from an extensive North American tour together with Turisas and Stolen Babies, on which Kelly Sundown Carpenter (Adagio, Beyond Twilight) debuted as session frontman.
Now, FIREWIND are happy to reveal that they will be releasing a new live album on June 24th, 2013 via Century Media Records in Europe to celebrate the 10th band anniversary in style. Entitled 'Apotheosis – Live 2012', the album will contain 17 songs recorded at special anniversary shows in Greece as well as all over Europe during the band’s 'Few Against Many' tour in 2012 with a playing time of 69 minutes featuring a great overview of the band’s career so far, which spans over 7 studio albums so far. This live-album also marks the final release with long term singer Apollo Papathanasio, who decided to step down from his duties as singer by the end of last year.
FIREWIND’s Gus G. has checked in to comment the release as follows:
“Apotheosis = the glorification of a subject to a divine level. That is the word that came to my mind, while thinking of how I could best describe the feeling & the vibe of those 4 anniversary shows we played in our homeland Greece and our last European headline tour in 2012! So that had to be our live album's title. You can feel the energy on these recordings, you can hear the screams of the most hardcore fans & the FIREWIND chants...it's all there. No doubt about it, it's the sheer love from our fans and supporters that has kept us alive and strong for 10 years and we wanted to celebrate all that with this album. We recorded all those shows, chose the best performances and now we can't wait to release this one! See you out there this spring & summer on European festival stages!”
Stay tuned for more details about FIREWIND’s 'Apotheosis – Live 2012' release to follow soon…
THE CRUNCH’s story begins on the pages of ‘Keep Yourself Alive’; an anthology of interviews with 70s rock and punk stars about their lives today, compiled by Peter Karlsson and Soren ‘Sulo’ Karlsson. When Sulo - perhaps better known as the honey ’n’ gravel voice of blues-rockers Diamond Dogs - began planning a Stockholm launch event to mark the book’s publication last autumn he called upon a few of its subjects to help provide the music, and so spontaneously assembled the collective now known as The Crunch.
Joining Sulo are original Clash sticksman Terry Chimes, bassist Dave Tregunna - who made his own essential contribution to punk rock in Sham 69 and Lords of the New Church, and on guitar Mick Geggus - whose crucial role in creating the Oi sound as part of the Cockney Rejects was recently documented in acclaimed biopic ‘East End Babylon’. Past credits don’t come much more impressive than those The Crunch boast between them, but the previous achievements of this iconic group are the least of a many good reasons to pay attention to the music they’re making together today.
Having recognised a unique musical chemistry on that night in Stockholm, these four seasoned pros wasted no time in seeking to capture it. By January they’d reunited at London’s Berry Street studios, and in the time since then what looked to be a very exciting prospect on paper has rapidly become more than the sum of its parts on record. What’s as apparent as the wealth of experience - and just as appealing - is an infectious energy and air of earnest enthusiasm amongst the group, which lends the feel of a fresh, new act.
Fuelling The Crunch from the start has been the simple shared love of rock ‘n’ roll and enjoyment of playing, and this spirit shines from the songs that are now flowing out of Berry Street. Two stays at the studio have yielded ten tracks to date, and the strength of this first material has encouraged the quartet to clear their diaries and rush back to record more in late April. With little discussion, and no pause to be considered either a ‘side-project’ or ‘supergroup’, The Crunch has quickly and quite organically developed into a fully committed four-piece band.
Both that gang-mentality and the sense of fun surrounding the sessions are strongly apparent on the first two tracks to surface. Debut single ‘Down by the Border’ is released on 7” vinyl via Legal Records on June 3rd and offers a enticing introduction to The Crunch. Although a volatile punk rock edge is unmistakable in Chimes and Tregunna’s taught, rattling rhythms, the sound is not that of a straight-forward ‘77 supergroup, but rather immense, infectious power-pop. Geggus’ versatile skills on guitar are used to great effect on the huge hooks, while Sulo’s distinctive voice heads up some rich harmonies as well as delivering a dose of grit. ‘Down By The Border’ may be the obvious theme song on the 7”, with its cry of “let’s take it to The Crunch!”, but there’s an equally strong statement of the band’s intentions to get back to the pure passion for playing rock ’n’ roll in b-side ‘Gangster Radio’ where, after declaring he’s “singing from the heart”, Sulo proclaims “I know where I’m going, where I started from”.
One thing The Crunch are keen to make clear is that this is only the start, and grander plans are now fast unfolding. A debut album is due in October, which the band will support with a full UK tour when they intend to air both the new material and some classic cuts from their considerable collective back catalogue.
ALICE IN CHAINS have debuted a lyric video for new single, 'Stone'. Watch the video below.
'Stone' is taken from the band's new album, 'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here', which will be released on May 14th.
Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones), 'The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here' is the follow-up to 2009's 'Black Gives Way To Blue' and is the group's second album with singer William DuVall.
As long time fans can attest, the quality of DIO's studio albums never wavered throughout the group's near 30-year career. Case in point, the fan favourite concept album, 'Magica', which featured Ronnie James Dio's one-of-a-kind vocals and the return of guitarist Craig Goldy.
The album spawned such metal classics as 'Fever Dreams', 'Turn to Stone' and 'Lord of the Last Day', and has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide - largely on word of mouth alone.
One small problem - the original 2000 CD version has been out of print for years, and has become increasingly hard to find. But to the delight of Dio fans worldwide, 'Magica' will be getting a makeover - on June 24, 2013 - as Niji Entertainment Group will be issuing the 2-CD 'Magica Deluxe Edition.'
A breakdown of what will be included on this two CD set is as follows:
CD 1 will contain the full album.
1. Discovery 2. Magica Theme 3. Lord Of The Last Day 4. Fever Dreams 5. Turn To Stone 6. Feed My Head 7. Eriel 8. Challis 9. As Long As It's Not About Love 10. Losing My Insanity 11. Otherworld 12. Magica- Reprise 13. Lord Of The Last Day - Reprise
CD 2 will contain "The Magica Story" (narrated by Ronnie James Dio) and the bonus track 'Annica', which was only available as a Japanese bonus track along with 'Electra' (which was planned for 'Magica 2 and 3') and six, never-before-released, Official Live Bootleg tracks from 2000/2001.
1. The Magica Story (Narrated By Ronnie James Dio) 2. Annica (Japanese Only Bonus Track) 3. Electra (Recorded for Magica 2 & 3) 4. Feed My Head (Official Live Bootleg) 5. Fever Dreams (Official Live Bootleg) 6. Turn To Stone (Official live Bootleg) 7. Lord Of The Last Day (Official Live Bootleg) 8. As Long as It's Not about Love (Official live bootleg) 9. Losing My Insanity (Official live bootleg)
Also included in the CD set will be deluxe packaging and a deluxe booklet (which also features the original 'Magica' tour dates, a set list, unseen photos, and new liner notes from long-time writer Mick Wall), as well as bonus inserts - including the "Magica Story" and a Ronnie James Dio postcard.
And the accolades surrounding 'Magica' continue all these years later:
"Since I played such a major role in how 'Magica' was created, it became one of my most proudest Dio moments and an experience I shall never forget!" - Craig Goldy (Dio, Dio Disciples)
"'Magica' is an album I know Ronnie was extremely proud of. Epic is a word that I often use to describe it to people!" - Simon Wright (Dio, Dio Disciples)
"'Magica' was an extremely important album to Ronnie James Dio "- Eddie Trunk, That Metal Show, VH1 Classic
"With this Deluxe Edition of 'Magica' we are reminded just how much Dio really meant to all of us." - Mick Wall, Legendary Writer/Radio Host
Soon, Dio fans worldwide will get the opportunity to experience the mighty 'Magica' as they've never done before.

Stereo Mixes Produced by Frank Zappa with Kerry McNabb at Paramount Studios, 1974. Mastered by Bob Ludwig, Gateway Mastering, 2009
“This was put together with my own money and my own time and it’s been offered to television networks and to syndication and it has been steadfastly rejected by the American television industry. It has been shown in primetime in France and Switzerland, with marvelous results. It’s probably one of the finest pieces of video work that any human being has ever done. I did it myself. And the animation that you’re gonna see in this was done by a guy named Bruce Bickford, and I hope he is watching the show, because it’s probably the first time that a lot of people in America got a chance to see it.” - FZ appearing on the Mike Douglas Show, 1976
Because Token has never been commercially released until now, it is one of the most sought after Frank Zappa programs.
Due to unforeseen circumstances and scheduling issues, Big Country will now play The Forum, London on June 2nd 2013. All tickets are still valid to the rescheduled date.
The band's revised tour schedule can be seen below.
Big Country, one of Britain’s most successful and best-loved rock bands, are touring the UK and Eire with a new line-up, and will release a brand new album later in the year.
After a 10 year break, the band returned to touring in late 2010. “After 30 years I would never thought I would be playing in Big Country again,” says guitarist Bruce Watson, “A band Stuart and I started last millenium in the hope of carrying on his dreams from his days in the Skids. We hope to do him proud.” Drummer Mark Brzezicki adds, “As Big Country continue to evolve, the journey continues. I am looking forward to expanding the journey into new territories and continuing our unfinished business across the world.”
Following the departure of Tony Butler in 2012, Big Country now features former Simple Minds bassist Derek Forbes alongside founder members Bruce Watson (guitar) and Mark Brzezicki (drums), singer Mike Peters (The Alarm) and guitarist Jamie Watson.
Formed in Dunfermline in 1981, Big Country went on to become one of the most celebrated British rock bands. Selling more than 10 million albums worldwide the band toured with such luminaries as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Queen. The band stopped touring in 2000 and then came the death of Stuart Adamson in 2001. Apart from a 25th anniversary celebration in 2007 the band remained dormant until the end of 2010 when they toured again with Mike Peters of The Alarm. In 2013, 30 years after the release of Big Country’s debut album The Crossing – an album described as a “classic” by MOJO – the band’s new tour will feature their greatest hits and tracks from their forthcoming new album.
Big Country tour the UK & Eire in April 2013. Remaining dates are as follows:

Chi Cheng, the Deftones bassist who had been in a semi-comatose state for more than four years after being seriously injured in a car accident in November 2008, has died. Cheng passed on Saturday, April 13th, aged 42.
Chi Cheng's mother issued the following statement:
"Our dearest family,
This is the hardest thing to write to you.
Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you.
He was taken to the emergency room and at 3 a.m. today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.
He fought the good fight.
You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone.
I will write more later.
I will be going through the Oneloveforchi.com and any other information may not be reliable.
If you have any stories or messages to share, please send them to the Onelove site.
Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings, and especially Chi's son, Gabriel, in your prayers.
It is so hard to let go.
With great love and much respect, Mom J (and Chi)."
In addition to not recovering full consciousness, Cheng had been in and out of hospitals for various infections as his family has struggled with the mounting costs of care since he lost his health insurance a few months after the accident. The Oneloveforchi charity website was made in dedication of his memory. Cheng required surgery after the car accident to remove part of his brain, but his recovery was strong enough that he was taken off life support seven months later. Over the course of the past couple of years, Cheng emerged from his coma for brief intervals. He was able to open his eyes and apparently could see and hear things going on around him, but could not respond verbally.
Deftones, who played a number of benefit shows and continued to donate money from the band's tours towards Cheng's medical costs, used bass player Sergio Vega for touring purposes after Cheng's accident, the bassist also featuring on the band's 'Diamond Eyes' and 'Koi No Yokan' albums.
Uber Rock offers its condolences to all family, friends and fans of Chi Cheng - R.I.P.
RADIO DEAD ONES have released a video for new song, 'Second To None'.
Watch it below.
The song is taken from the German punks' forthcoming album, produced by Rich Jones (The Loyalties/Ginger Wildheart) and mixed by Jason Edwards (Wolfsbane).
