‘Back To Momo’, the fourth album from Californian glamsters Blacklist Union left an indelible mark on URHQ when it was released last year. So when ‘Union frontman Tony West contacted us regarding the video he’d just made for the awesome ‘Evil Eye’ a track taken from said album we thought it the ideal opportunity to also ask him to select the thirteen songs that helped shape the man he is today. Grunge, yacht rock, metal and hardcore crossover are just some of the genres he chooses in yet another fantastic Midnite Mixtape Massacre.

1.) ‘Saturday In The Park’ - Chicago (from the album ‘Chicago V’)

The only happy memory I have of my parents collectively with me and them is when I was 5 years old and started singing this song. I always wanted to cover it because of this

2.) ‘Space Oddity’ - David Bowie (from the self titled album)

My uncle played this for me when I was 5 and in that moment that's when I chose what I would do with my life

3.) ‘Unchained’ - Van Halen (from the album ‘Fair Warning’)

When I was a kid I would wait and wait and wait until MTV played this one.

4.) ‘T.N.T.’ - AC/DC (from the album by the same name)

The first song I ever learned.

5.) ‘Malfunction’ - Cro-Mags (from the album ‘The Age of Quarrel’)

I grew up on NY Hardcore and was actually at the filming for the ‘We Gotta Know’ video at the Ritz in NYC.

6.) ‘Drugs Party In 526’ - G.B.H (from the album ‘City Babys Revenge’)

I love punk rock to this day and it saved my life. GBH is one of my all-time favourites.

7.) ‘Out ta Get Me’ - Guns N’ Roses (from the album ‘Appetite For Destruction’)

The story of my life - When I heard GN’R I knew I would move to Hollywood as soon as I was old enough. I ran away to Hollywood at a very young age. I was a baby.

8.) ‘We Die Young’ - Alice In Chains (from the album ‘Facelift’)

When this came out it changed the course of rock ‘n’ roll. Thank God! And it's a miracle I am still standing.

9.) ‘Stardog Champion’ - Mother Love Bone (from the album ‘Apple’)

Mother Love Bone and Andy Wood were and still are a huge influence on me. I learned to sing to Mother Love Bone. I know every nuance of most of their songs. They are the Holy Grail of rock ‘n’ roll to me.

10.) ‘Wasteland’ - Warrior Soul (from the album ‘Drugs, God And The New Republic’)

Another big influence on me. Warrior Soul is everything a rock ‘n’ roll band should be.

11.) ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Outlaw’ - Rose Tattoo (from the self titled album)

I found out about this band through a friend and this song is biographical. Blacklist Union covered it on the ‘Back To Momo’ album too. .

12.) ‘Hollywood Babylon’ - Misfits (from the album ‘Static Age’)

I lived this tale and still do.

13.) ‘Shake It Off’ - Blacklist Union (from the album ‘Back To Momo’)

This song is when I let go of my parent’s abuse and what haters think of me and took my power back. This is one of my favorite Blacklist Union songs.
